@netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @tfb@bsd.cafe I am aware of that fact, and I appreciate the restriction of custom forks in NetBSD buuuuuut I am drawing my line against Mozilla. I cannot in good conscience use their actual browser - using a custom fork is the way I tell Mozilla I do not appreciate what they have done to Firefox.
I am aware of how this could be perceived as irony, but it is not.
@netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @tfb@bsd.cafe thanks. I will - think I tried it a few years back.
Am I right in thinking it's the one based on the pre-"Quantum" Firefox? Or have I got confused with something else?
@the_wub@mastodon.social @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @tfb@bsd.cafe it's been a while since I used that particular flavour/version (I.e. pre-quantum) of FF and forks, but can't we just change search engines in the config like we still can rather than an extension? Could have sworn I was doing that back in 2012 but I could be wrong!
@paul @netbsd @tfb PaleMoon seems to be forked from a point when you used to go to The Mycroft Project to download and "install" a search engine to get a specific search engine. Editing search engines in both vanilla PaleMoon and SeaMonkey is extremely limited.
Heh! Mycroft is still there and there seems to be a DDG No AI plugin but it seems to be Firefox only.
@the_wub@mastodon.social @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @tfb@bsd.cafe yeah, I remember those days, but still convinced I used to do it manually.
Well, I'll find out when I actually install it I guess! π€£
@the_wub@mastodon.social @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @tfb@bsd.cafe I will. Think the OpenSearch spec was around then and I can't see why Firefox of old, of all things, wouldn't support it. But, as I say, it's been over 10 years since using that particular browser interface so we will see!
@netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org @paul@paulwilde.uk @tfb@bsd.cafe I was thinking of checking out what this thing is, but it seems things aren't quite as good on #FreeBSD.π€£
@xiaotuolu @netbsd @paul The more niche, the more care is taken with palemoon, maybe? It comes as part of a standard Tribblix installation
