It's very early days, but #AlpineBSD has returned some joy of computing to me

Granted, this could also be done with #NetBSD, on which AlpineBSD is based.

But having the tainted repo, where tools like git and curl exist has forced me to consider alternatives. I can install from tainted, but I have it configured that any apps here require me to use apk add git@tainted rather than apk add git so it's a great control measure.

For curl alternative, I'm struggling right now, and if I dare say so, Daniel has been open about LLM use for a long time and is probably the closest we have to "responsible use"

Git however, I can try alternatives, and I'm now using got - game of trees. I barely scratch the surface in my git usage, so got is probably going to be easy to switch to, and so far it's working great. I will use this more often across all PCs I think.

Now, I need to try a new shell... 😬

Hi @drew@social.freebitcoin.gay

Not sure if anybody has got in touch about this but a few notes on the installation steps for #AlpineBSD. Apologies for getting in touch here too, I haven't found my way to the wiki contact yet (go-away isn't kicking in for me) :-)

Actually - don't worry - i'm in! I see there's a patch already so all good!

Firstly, in the Partitions steps - it probably needs $target at the end of each of the gpt add... lines

On Install packages, apk is not immediately runnable after downloading and making it executable, so it should probably be /mnt/sbin/apk ... instead of just apk ... before chrooting into the partitions (can't chroot before this because /bin/sh doesn't exist until absd-base is installed :-)

Also, it needs to be apk add ... otherwise people will get a not an apk command error

Other than that, I have successfully got an AlpineBSD VM running! Thanks for your efforts!
